After Ola Electric introduced its first-ever electric scooter earlier in the day, another home-grown manufacturer, Simple Energy, introduced its brand new Simple One electric scooter in the country at a price of Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India). At this price point, the Simple One electric scooter is more expensive than the TVS iQube and Ola S1 electric scooter, but undercuts the Ather 450 Plus and Bajaj Chetak in the market. The new Simple One electric scooter is also eligible to receive FAME-II subsidies as well, so expect the prices to drop in some states. The company is also offering refundable pre-bookings from its website for Rs 1,947.

The Simple One electric scooter claims a 236km travel range from its class-leading 4.8kWh removable lithium-ion battery, with a claimed range of 203km in Eco mode. Additionally, the company claims a top speed of 105kmph on the Simple One electric scooter, with the 0-40kmph sprint achieved in less than 3 seconds. Simple Energy claims its Simple One electric scooter can juice up its battery to 80 per cent from zero in 2.75 hours from a typical home charger. The Simple One electric scooter comes with a claimed torque of 72Nm from its 4.5kW motor. The One electric scooter receives four riding modes Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic.

The Simple One electric scooter has a full-colour, fully-customisable 7.0-inch touchscreen.

The Simple One electric scooter rides on a set of 12-inch wheels at both ends, with a telescopic fork and a monoshock to handle the suspension. There is an option to choose between a 90/90-12 front and rear tyre, and a 100/80-12 at the front, and 110/80-12 at the rear. It also claims the lightest kerb weights in its class at 110kg. The Simple One has a full-colour, fully-customisable 7.0-inch touchscreen, with Bluetooth and 4G connectivity compatibility, onboard navigation, geo-fencing and vehicle tracking functions. Simple Energy will provide over-the-air software updates to the One electric scooter.

Simple Energy will offer the One electric in a total of four colours Brazen Black, Namma Red, Grace White and Azure Blue. While the company will expand to 75 cities across 13 states in the next couple of months, it is also targeting to be present in about 176 cities by August next year.
