India is celebrating its 75th Independence Day today. Security has been tightened across the country.
As the country celebrates ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ marking the 75th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag and addressed the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort in New Delhi.
32 Olympic winners, 240 Olympians and many Covid warriors were honoured during the 75th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort on Sunday. The theme for this year’s Independence Day is ‘Nation First, Always First’.
As soon as the national flag was hoisted by PM Narendra Modi, flower petals were showered at Red Fort by two Mi 17 1V helicopters of the Indian Air Force.
Meanwhile, heritage structures and government buildings across the country were illuminated in tricolour on the eve of Independence Day. This year marks 74 years of India’s freedom.
